What if I'm arrested and charged with a crime?

Make notes of exactly what occurred prior to your arrest, of all statements or comments made to you by any police officer or of any comments made by you to the police. If possible, obtain a copy of the police report. Give the information to your attorney. As a citizen of the United States of America, you have many rights, which will be protected by the courts. Criminal defense lawyers understand these rights and work to ensure that citizens charged with criminal offenses are treated fairly. It is important that you consult with a competent Knoxville criminal defense attorney before talking to the police or appearing in court.

What if I'm arrested and charged with a DUI?

In any type of DUI case in Tennessee, be sure to make a record of everything you remember about the traffic stop. Make a list of the names and addresses of any witnesses to the incident. Write down your activities of the few hours prior to the traffic stop. Include any comments or statements the police officer made to you, any comments you made to the officer, and any road side tests or alcohol tests that the officer had you perform. Get a copy of the police report of the incident and give all of the information to your attorney. Within the first hours after arrest, you can have an independent drug and alcohol test done which can help your case.

Remember, a DUI charge is a criminal offense that could result in a lengthy prison sentence. Be sure to protect your rights by contacting a criminal attorney for a consultation. Speak with one of our criminal defense attorneys near Pigeon Forge today.
